The Regional Accessibility Advisory Committee’s (RAAC) purpose is to assist local government leaders to identify barriers to individuals in, or interacting with, our local governments, and to advise the local governments on how to remove and prevent barriers to individuals in, or interacting with, their local government.
In 2022, the Province of BC created the Accessible British Columbia Act, which requires all governments and prescribed organizations to have an Accessibility Committee and an Accessibility Plan.
In developing and updating its accessibility plan, the following principals must be considered: inclusion, adaptability, diversity, collaboration, self-determination, and universal design.
