Garbage and food waste bins are one of the main reasons bears and other wild animals come to our neighbourhoods, increasing the likelihood of human-wildlife conflict.
There are several simple steps you can take to secure your bins:
- Keep your garbage in your residence or in a secure enclosed area.
- Only put out your bin by 8:00 a.m. on your collection day (never put it out overnight).
- Bring your bin inside after collection.
- Keep your bins clean.
Keep wildlife and our community safe by storing your waste responsibly. For more information, please visit WildSafe BC. Report any issues with wildlife to the RAPP line and contact the Sunshine Coast WildSafeBC coordinator at sunshinecoast@wildsafebc.com.
