Curbside Collection

The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) offers curbside food waste and garbage collection in four rural areas: Halfmoon Bay, Roberts Creek, Elphinstone and West Howe Sound.

Egmont / Pender Harbour residents can self-haul garbage and food waste to the Pender Harbour Transfer Station.

If you are experiencing an issue with service or your bins were not collected, please contact  Salish Soils at 604-885-5383 or email them at  office@salishsoils.com.

If you require further assistance or if you need a new green bin, please contact the SCRD at 604-885-6806 or  infrastructure@scrd.ca

Extreme weather events, such as snow or icy conditions can result in delayed or missed collections. If this is the case, information on missed collections will be provided at www.scrd.ca or on the SCRD Collects App. Get the app on your phone or sign up for alerts here.

Household recycling can be taken to one of three SCRD Recycling Depots.

In 2021, the SCRD Board considered the implementation of curbside recycling in the SCRD. Learn more about this project here at letstalk.scrd.ca/curbside-recycling

Be Wildlife Aware

Garbage and food waste bins are one of the main reasons bears and other wild animals come to our neighbourhoods, increasing the likelihood of human-wildlife conflict.

There are several simple steps you can take to secure your bins:

  • Keep your garbage in your residence or in a secure enclosed area.
  • Only put out your bin by 8:00 a.m. on your collection day (never put it out overnight).
  • Bring your bin inside after collection.
  • Keep your bins clean.

Keep wildlife and our community safe by storing your waste responsibly. For more information, please visit WildSafe BC. Report any issues with wildlife to the RAPP line and contact the Sunshine Coast WildSafeBC coordinator at sunshinecoast@wildsafebc.com.
