Water Quality
Each week, approximately one-hundred water samples are taken from various points throughout the Sunshine Coast Regional District’s (SCRD) water systems. These samples are tested to ensure that pristine drinking water continues to make its way to taps throughout the Sunshine Coast. The water is tested for bacteria, chemicals, metals, and physical properties and results are provided to Vancouver Coastal Health.
Two years’ worth of test results are available below. For results prior to 2020, visit our Document Library
Bacteriology Tests
These samples are tested for total coliforms and ecoli coliforms.
Disinfection Byproducts (DBPs)
Trihalomethanes (THMs) and Haloacetic acids (HAAs) are disinfection byproducts that form when naturally occurring organics in the water react with chlorine. DBPs are tested quarterly throughout each of the SCRD’s water systems.
Water Potability Tests
The physical, chemical and organic parameters of each Sunshine Coast Regional District Water System is regularly tested to ensure that it complies with the guidelines of Canadian Drinking Water Quality.
