Withdrawals from a registered program made more than 72 hours before the start of the program will be refunded to account. Withdrawals made within 72 hours of the start of the program will not be refunded. Exceptions may be granted by the Recreation Coordinator under extenuating circumstances.
Recreation Withdrawal, Refund and Cancellation Policy
The information below outlines the Sunshine Coast Regional District’s (SCRD) recreation programming policy for refunds and cancellations.
If you need to withdraw from an activity that you have registered for, please call 604-885-6801 or email recreation@scrd.ca
All refunds are issued to customer account for use at a later date. Account credits can be used towards registrations, pass purchases and drop-in admissions.
Refund by cheque of a balance on a customer account may be made upon request.
Refunds will not be made to a customer credit card.
Starting in 2023, account credits will be cleared (removed) on inactive SCRD recreation accounts. Inactive is defined as zero financial activity of any kind on the account for at least five years. Customers with credits on inactive accounts will be notified that the credit will be cleared and reminded to use it or to request a cheque refund for it.
Starting 2026, customers with account credits of less than $50 sitting on inactive accounts will not receive an email reminder. These accounts will be automatically cleared if the credit is not used by June 1 of that year. Customers with account credits of $50 or more sitting in inactive accounts will continue to receive a reminder to use the credit before it is cleared.
A cancellation by the SCRD may occur when a registered program (whole or in part) is cancelled due to minimal registration not being met, changes from the instructor, or other material changes that make it impossible for the activity to proceed. Registrants will receive a refund to account for the cancelled portion of the program.
When a customer will not be using a facility for which they have prepaid access or for which they have been issued a permit, a cancellation is made. 14-days notice is required for one-time events in order to qualify for a full refund including damage deposit. Ongoing users do not qualify for refunds, but may choose alternate dates or find an approved substitute user.
The SCRD does not provide refunds on passes.
